Project 2a - Photos

Here is a series of photos which show in real life the area of new anatomy, and a couple of quick ideas including the aperture eyeball, and the crocodile like eyelid.

Project 2a - Drawing

This is a section sketch of an eye, showing in depth the area i want to enhance with my mechanical second eyelid. The clear secondary eyelid will slide up and down on the eye depending on the amount of light around protecting the eyeball when there is most uv light.

Project 2a - Research

For this project, leading into my final assignment for 252 i want to tackle an issue that deals with everyday life. I have chosen to create a 'second eyelid' which is sensitive to uv light. This is inspired by alligators as they have the same adaptations for being under water. I hope to make a complex working model which will be 3D printed now that i have a bit more knowledge about the computer software. I have also found a few pictures which run along the same lines using a camera lens aperture settings.

These two renders are of my final ring which is to be sent to shapeways. I am still unsure on what finish i want yet however i am starting to lean towards the bronze finish, its different and thats what makes it that much cooler. I am wrapped with how this ring has turned out, on screen anyway. I hope it comes back just how i imagine it!

Project 1C - Solidworks Drawings

Here are a few screenshots as i progressed towards some concepts for my final rings. Playing with the idea of simplicity vs technical and complex. From here i will continue working towards my final designs using a simple idea with some form of fabric inside the tight fitting ring, and the idea of the tentacles gripping onto the knuckle for the loose fit ring, with my good size ring being a design i favor, which mixes a simple pattern revolved in a different shape from the outside.

Project 1C- Finger Sections

Making a cast of my finger and slicing my it into sections really allowed and helped me measure more accurately the diameter of my finger, which is crucial to this project. I decided to measure from one of my sections in particular as it was where i think my ring will sit on the finger.

A rough few drawings of fingers, and ideas based on my inspiration for this project. Thinking of developing more in the ideas of the tennis ball texture idea and the tenticles wrapping around the finger to grip on.

Project 1C - Inspiration

Here are a selection of rings i find interesting going into this project, the surface textures, and general shape. My initial thoughts are to create something with meaning, something personal to me, which is why i like the tyre tread and tennis ball look.
